Sonar festival will transmit music to outer space, celebrating 25th birthday.

The Catalan ,Barcelona's Sónar festival will celebrate its 25th in business next year by sending music to outer space.


 
Special pieces of music will be broadcasted to a planet  called GJ 237b which is  2.4 light-years from earth. This form of musical communication will be the first time that earth has attempted to reach out to a potentially habitable exoplanet.


Some of the artists tha will contribute are Nina Kraviz, Kerri Chandler, Laurent Garnier , The Black Madonna & more. There will be 33 artists that will help with their music


 
Read Sonar Festival's statement:

"For 25 years Sónar has been scanning the planet for the most advanced music on Earth. Now the festival turns its antennas upwards, sending music into space in an attempt to make first contact with an alien civilization."

They have been celebrating, apparently, by sending music to aliens. It’s part of a joint project with METI International.

Sónar Festival takes place every summer at Barcelona during June.
